Coming in from our amazing balcony view of the beach, I still can't believe where I am. Cape Town is unbelievable. Yesterday was the city tour with our awesome driver Ish, who took us to the top of Signal Hill for a view of the stadium, aka "The Big Toilet", and to Camps Bay. Both were breath-taking. Last night we went to Moyo, where we had an incredible dinner accompanied by a singer/acoustic guitarist and singing/drumming men in tribal attire walking around our tables. Later, a group of us went downtown to The Dubliner, where we had a few drinks with the local crowd and listened to a keyboarder sing a bunch of familiar pop songs. Today we had our first guest speaker, Uma Mesthrie, who gave us a very insightful lecture on the forced removals and land restitution during the apartheid. Right now my roommates and I are watching a rugby game on TV (ready for the big Springboks game on 6/11!), and about to go get groceries. Can't wait for the experiences and friendships to be had in these upcoming weeks.
