Today was one of our first days that we were able to explore and get acquainted with our home for the next month. Our room has made a list of things that we can’t miss during our time in Cape Town that ranges from sky diving to a picnic in the park. One of the things we had all put down as a must-do activity was visiting Old Biscuit Mill on a Saturday morning. Old Biscuit Mill is a market set up every Saturday morning that is filled with international vendors selling foods, spices, and teas from their homelands. French pastries and cheeses, Italian pestos, Indian gyros, and fresh produce lined the walls while people streamed through the aisles, looking for something new to sample.

From Old Biscuit Mill many of us went to Green Market where vendors were selling jewelry, wood carvings, bags, scarves, and other crafts from around Africa. It was such an experience getting to barter with the merchants and seeing their work. It was a great way to get to talk to some locals and experience a part of their daily.
It was a great opportunity to get to know Cape Town better and buy some things that will remind of us our time in South Africa after we return home.
