Sir Lowry's Service

Today has been an awesome day and long day. We did not have class this morning so we had a great chance to get some extra rest before the heading to Sir Lowry’s Pass. When we pulled into Sir Lowry’s we were all overwhelmed to see twenty police officers on the side of the road. We did not know what the commotion was all about, but it seemed like it was causing quite a scene in the community. Once the bus stopped we waited for Preston to figure out what was going on. Preston came back to the bus and told us that people who did not have homes were squatting on unmarked land, which is illegal. It was not a violent situation so the leaders decided it was ok to stay. Before I could get off I spotted my buddy Mario. He is an eleven-year-old boy full of energy and adventure. It was clear that he was waiting on me to get off the bus. When I got off he gave me an awesome drawing he made for me. I was a little upset that I didn’t have anything to give back to him. The next two hours I felt like a human jungle gym. It was a ton of fun though, because it is very easy to see how much it means to these kids to have someone older than them to play with. After playing games in the street and making arts and crafts in the crush (the community center). Then we headed down to the school to work on the mural and play sports on the field. I played soccer and I got me excited for field day.
